Founded by Christian Lloyd R. Cañas, the current D.I.S.S. subject facilitator, Pelikula Fiesta provides a platform for students to transcend classroom learning and showcase their understanding of complex theories. Through this activity, students are challenged to create short films that illustrate their comprehension of Sociological Theories, including their strengths, criticisms, and practical applications. This creative approach enables students to think critically, demonstrate their knowledge, and develop essential skills in storytelling, teamwork, and problem-solving. By depicting real-world scenarios from ordinary Filipino daily lives, students learn to contextualize theoretical concepts and make them more relatable and engaging.
The success of Pelikula Fiesta's inaugural installment during HUMSS Day 2024 has paved the way for its inclusion as a major activity in future HUMSS Day Celebrations. This provides a valuable opportunity for Grade 11 students to interact with their seniors, foster camaraderie, and share their creative talents through film. As Pelikula Fiesta continues to grow, it promises to inspire students to become innovative thinkers, creative storytellers, and socially aware individuals.

Overall, HUMSS Pelikula Fiesta represents a pioneering approach to learning, where students are empowered to express their ideas, showcase their creativity, and develop a deeper understanding of Social Science Theories. By harnessing the power of filmmaking, this activity has the potential to transform the way students learn, interact, and apply theoretical concepts to real-world challenges.
HUMSS Pelikula Fiesta, also known as Pelikula Fiesta, is an innovative culminating activity designed exclusively for Grade 11 students of The Philippine Women's College of Davao enrolled in the Disciplines and Ideas in the Social Sciences (D.I.S.S.) subject under the Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS) Strand. This unique initiative aims to unleash students' creativity and brilliance in applying Social Science Theories to real-life scenarios through filmmaking.
